New Delhi, Sep 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened his Mann Ki Baat radiobroadcast on Sunday with condoling the deaths of 18 soldiers in the Uri terror attack and reiterating that the perpetrators would be punished. For the next couple of minutes, he exclusively addressed the people of Jammu and Kashmir over the current situation there and said that every issue would be resolved through dialogues and talks.
“I salute our brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the Uri terror attack. There is anger in the entire country over the attack. It was the loss of the whole nation. I want to say what I said on the same day (of attack) that the guilty would be punished,” said PM Modi while opening the address.
Then he said he also wants to talk to the people of Jammu and Kashmir especially.
“Today I want to talk also to people of Kashmir especially. People of Kashmir have begun to identify anti-national forces and they have started to walk on the path of peace distancing themselves from such forces as they are coming to know the truth. Every parent wants that schools and colleges should be opened the earliest. Farmers also want to send their crop and fruits to markets in the entire country. For past few days, markets have also begun to open normally,” said PM Modi.
Peace, unity and harmony only way to resolve issues: Modi
“हम सब जानते हैं – शान्ति, एकता और सद्भावना ही हमारी समस्याओं का समाधान का रास्ता भी है, हमारी प्रगति का रास्ता भी है, हमारे विकास का भी रास्ता है। हमारी भावी पीढ़ियों के लिये हमने विकास की नई ऊंचाइयों को पार करना है। मुझे विश्वास है कि हर समस्या का समाधान हम मिल-बैठ करके खोजेंगे, रास्ते निकालेंगे और साथ-साथ कश्मीर की भावी पीढ़ी के लिये उत्तम मार्ग भी प्रशस्त करेंगे।“.
“We all know that peace, unity and harmony are the only way for resolving our issues; it is also the way for our progress and development. For our new generation, we have to scale new heights of progress. I believe that we will sit together and find out solution to every issue, we will find out ways and pave better ways for the new generation of Kashmir,”) said PM Modi in his speech in Hindi.
Safety of people of Kashmir is responsibility of govt: Modi
PM Modi subtly asked security forces to observe restraint while using force against people.
“कश्मीर के नागरिकों की सुरक्षा, ये शासन की जिम्मेवारी होती है। क़ानून और व्यवस्था बनाने के लिये शासन को कुछ क़दम उठाने पड़ते हैं। मैं सुरक्षा बलों को भी कहूँगा कि हमारे पास जो सामर्थ्य है, शक्ति है, क़ानून हैं, नियम हैं; उनका उपयोग क़ानून और व्यवस्था के लिये है, कश्मीर के सामान्य नागरिकों को सुख-चैन की ज़िन्दगी देने के लिये है और उसका हम भली-भाँति पालन करेंगे।“.
“The safety and protection of people of Kashmir lies on the government. In order to maintain law and order, government has to take some steps. I also want to tell security forces that the power we have and the laws and rules – all these should be used for law and order and to ensure peaceful life for common people of Kashmir and we will abide by it,” said PM.
