New Delhi, Feb 27: Janata Dal (United) of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced to launch election campaign in Gujarat very soon with the only aim “to corner lion in its own den”. JD-U General Secretary K C Tyagi said this referring to his party’s plan to defeat BJP in Gujarat.

“Our only aim would be to corner lion in its own den. The day we succeeded in defeating BJP in Gujarat, our destination of 2019 would become easy,” said Rajya Sabha Member Tyagi while interacting with media persons on the sidelines of an event here in the National Capital on Sunday.

The JD-U leader also said that Gujarat’s Patel youth icon Hardik Patel has approached the party president and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar.

“Revolutionary leader of the state Hardik Patel has invited Nitish Kumar and from April we will start election campaign there,” said Tyagi.

JD-U parted ways with BJP in Bihar couple of years before the Lok Sabha elections 2014. Though BJP swept the elections in Bihar in May 2014 under the leadership of its then prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, the party was hugely defeated by JD-U led alliance in the Bihar Assembly polls in 2015.

Before his ascent to the post of prime minister, Narendra Modi was chief minister of Gujarat for three consecutive terms.
