Kairana, March 11: BJP candidate Mriganka Singh is trailing behind Nahid Hasan of Samajwadi Party in the much-talked about Kairana assembly constituency. Mriganka’s father and BJP MP Hukum Singh had raised false alarm of ‘Hindu exodus’ last year.
As per trends available from the Election Commission by 2:00 PM, Hasan was leading by 21,162 votes.
Hukum Singh had claimed that due to thousands people from neighboring Muzaffarnagar resettling in Kairana following the 2013 riots, hundreds of Hindus had migrated from Kairana – the claim which was denied by the district administration and some media organizations.
