Lucknow, March 27: What is the issue that got topmost position in the election manifesto of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s Bharatiya Janata Party? Slaughterhouses. Wrong answer. Anti-Romeo Squad. Wrong again. An ordinary person, however, could be forgiven for naming these two as the topmost poll promises of BJP because these were the only issues that got first and harsh attention of CM Yogi in the first week in office even though they were not the topmost promises made in written ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
The 32-page Lok Kalyan Sankalp Patra or election manifesto of BJP has 10 chapters. The first chapter is Agriculture Will Be Foundation of Development. Under this chapter, there are 13 sections. The first section is Financial Aid to Farmers. And here the first promise that BJP made is: Farm Loans of All Small Farmers Will Be Waived. The second promise is that All Small Farmers Will Be Provided Interest-free Loans. There are three more promises here related sugarcane price, payment of due amount of sugarcane farmers and roadmap to double the income of farmers in the state by 2022.
More than one week has passed, the Yogi government has not said a word about the first or second promises.

Where is slaughterhouse in BJP manifesto?
The way Yogi government went on slaughterhouse sealing spree hours after assuming office, many thought it was the topmost promise of the party. But yes, the party had promised to shut down illegal slaughterhouses.

The first chapter entitled Agriculture Will Be Foundation of Development has 40 promises spreading in 13 sections. In order, the promise of sealing of illegal slaughterhouses is at No. 29 (in 8th section Animal Farming).
Anti-Romeo Squad
This promise was mentioned much later in the poll manifesto.
In 8th Chapter Empowered Women Equal Rights, the party, along with various other promises, said Anti-Romeo Squad will be set up in police stations near colleges.
The first promise under this chapter was that every poor family will be offered a development bond worth Rs 50,000 at the birth of a baby girl. But like farm loan waiver, this promise has also not yet got attention of the government.
