Lucknow, April 15: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while speaking on the occasion of 126th birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar here on Friday, said schools should not be closed on the occasion of birth/death anniversary of great personalities, rather there should be two-hour program where students should be taught about them.
“There should be no holidays in schools on birth anniversaries of great personalities. Instead, special two-hour programme should be held to teach students about them,” he reportedly said.
Here is a list of personalities whose birth/death/martyrdom is observed as a holiday in Uttar Pradesh and elsewhere. The website of UP government’s Appointment & Personnel department has a list of holidays (both gazetted and non-gazetted) for year 2016. The following list has been prepared on the basis of that government list.
