After Khan’s death and loot of the cattle and money, the family was almost broken. Now with the gift from SIO, they can try to collect their life and move on

IndiaTomorrow.net,
New Delhi, April 20: Slain dairy farmer Pahlu Khan’s family on Thursday got a gift in the form of the precious animal that has long been their source of livelihood but unfortunately the same animal became the cause of death of their lone bread-earner earlier this month.

In a noble bid to restore their traditional source of livelihood, the Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) has provided the dairy farmer family with a milch cow and a calf.

Pahlu Khan, 50, was lynched by a gang of self-styled gau rakshaks (cow protectors) when he along with his two sons and another Muslim dairy farmer was returning from Jaipur after purchasing some cows and calves at the government-run cattle fair in the Rajasthan capital. They were stopped in Alwar district on 1st April, dragged out of their trucks and mercilessly assaulted. They showed them the verified purchase documents but the attackers did not heed. While Khan succumbed to injuries, four others were wounded.

The attackers took away the cattle and snatched Rs 35,000 from Pahlu Khan.

Pahlu Khan is survived by wife and 8 children. The dairy farming has been the only source of livelihood for the family. After Khan’s death and loot of the cattle and money, the family was almost broken. Now with the gift from SIO, they can try to collect their life and move on.
