Court notice to central govt. over defunct minority commission

The court has issued notice day after the ruling party BJP celebrated its three years in power and claimed doing lots of work for all including the minorities

New Delhi, May 17: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday issued notice to the BJP-led Central government over a petition seeking re-constitution of the National Commission for Minorities (NCM). All positions at the panel, from Chairperson to Vice Chairperson to Members, are vacant for couple of months, and thus it has virtually become defunct.

According to LiveLaw.in, a website dedicated on court-related matters, the Delhi High Court has sought status report from the Central government on PIL to re-constitute NCM by filling up vacancies.
