“Central Govt. has proved who runs them. Cattle slaughter becomes illegal at a time when manslaughter happens in the name of cow,” Kerala CM said

IndiaTomorrow.net,
Thiruvananthapuram, May 27: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has strongly reacted on the Narendra Modi government’s new rules about cattle slaughter, saying it is an attack on the poor, Dalits and farmers.

“With effective ban on cattle slaughter, food consumption of millions (will be) affected. (It is a) clear attack on our plurality, the essence of India,” tweeted the CM.

The Union Ministry of Environment on Friday issued new rules regulating sale and purchase at cattle markets across the country. The government has banned sale of cattle including buffalo (whose consumption is not banned even in states where cow slaughter is banned) for purpose of slaughtering.

Reacting over it, the Kerala CM said: “New livestock regulation law will rob lakhs of jobs, cripple leather industry. Primarily an attack on our poor, dalits & farmers.”

“Central Govt. has proved who runs them. Cattle slaughter becomes illegal at a time when manslaughter happens in the name of cow,” he said.

According to some media reports, the Kerala government has also indicated to challenge the new rule in the court.
