Congress leads farmers’ protest in all districts of Rajasthan

Jaipur, June 14: In pre-emptive attempt to catch farmers’ mood in Rajasthan, in the wake of the violent farm protest in the neighbouring Madhya Pradesh where six farmers were killed in police firing last week, the Congress party on Wednesday organized farmers’ protest in all 33 districts of Rajasthan.

State Congress president Sachin Pilot led the protest in Sikar district where a big rally of farmers was organized.

For about two weeks, farmers in Madhya Pradesh have been on the street demanding loan waiver and minimum support price for their crops. Similar protests were held in Maharashtra also where Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had to announce complete loan waiver to secure call-off of the farmers protest.

In Madhya Pradesh also, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced a slew of measures for farmers besides Rs one crore each for the families of six farmers killed in police firing in Mandsaur district on 6th June.
