Mumtaz Alam, IndiaTomorrow.net,
Aligarh, Oct 24: Even as the central government is opposing the minority character of Aligarh Muslim University on the premise that a centrally-funded institution cannot be minority-specific, the latest results of the Uttar Pradesh Judicial Services Exams 2016 have demolished a myth created about the university for long.

That 10 of the successful candidates for the post of civil judges are from AMU should be enough to remove the tag of non-performer recently attached to the varsity in a government report.

But the results have demolished a bigger negative tag, rather myth – that AMU is sort of a madrasa where only Muslim students study.

Of the 10 graduates of AMU who have recently qualified to become civil judges, seven are not Muslim.

These candidates were offered coaching by AMU’s Residential Coaching Academy. The Uttar Pradesh Judicial Services Exams 2016 were conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission.

Congratulating the successful students, Prof Tariq Mansoor, Vice Chancellor of AMU, said the results in this bicentenary year (200th birth anniversary of AMU’s founder Sir Syed Ahmad Khan) have “reinforced our commitment to the mission of founder by revisiting our glorious history and asserting our formidable presence on the educational map of nation through laurels and achievements earned by our students and teachers.”

“It’s a proud moment for entire AMU fraternity that our university has emerged as a front runner in almost every ranking in recent years,” said the VC and assured students every help in fulfilling their academic and professional dreams.

He emphasised that the UPPSC result will further elevate the standard of AMU.
