Muslim body demands JPC probe on banking scams

New Delhi, March 3: Expressing deep concern at recent bank scams, leading Muslim body on Saturday said that beside a fool proof system of checks and balance, the fear of accountability before God is also necessary to wipe out the problem of corruption completely.

In a press conference in New Delhi, leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) demanded that the government appoint a Joint Parliamentary Committee or JPC to investigate these scams and also to find out what steps have been taken by the government to ensure its prevention.
Muhammad Salim Engineer, Secretary General of JIH, said that corruption on such high scale is not possible without the participation of the higher officers of banks and soft corner for them from the government.
JIH also accused the government for failing to check such rampant corruption.
“The government has failed to deliver on its promise of clean and corruption-free government.”
The issue of extra-judicial killing in the name of police encounter in Uttar Pradesh was also raised. President of JIH Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari said that such killings are completely illegal aurnd must be stopped immediately. He also expressed his concern over the growing violence against women and weaker sections of the society including Dalit and minorities.
Maulana Umari also urged Indian government and the United Nations to put pressure on the Syrian government for an immediate ceasefire.
Answering a question regarding the recent ban on Popular Front of India in the state of Jharkhand, Maunala Umari said that JIH always opposes banning organizations because it violates the fundamental rights ensured in the democratic system.
