New Delhi, 15 Sep 2018: Dozens of activists on Saturday protested at Haryana Bhavan in New Delhi against the sealing of a mosque in Gurugram on Wednesday.

Protesters shouted slogans against the government and demanded the de-sealing of the mosque immediately. They said that they came here to demand their rights to the state government.

The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram has sealed the mosque in Sheetla Colony saying that it comes under 300-meter restricted area of the ammunition depot of the Indian Air Force.

While addressing the protesters, activist Nadeem Khan of United Against Hate, said that a complaint was filed by a person in the locality against the loudspeaker in the mosque but the police came and sealed the mosque.

“If someone has an issue to the loudspeaker then there can be a settlement after dialogue, but how can a mosque be sealed because of such complaint,” he questions.

He said that there are about 300 houses, including a temple, church and mosque, but the police acted against the mosque only.

“If the area is restricted then why so many houses are there? Where were the police when all were built,” he further asked

“I am not saying that why the temple or church wasn’t sealed but I am asking why they did nothing when all these were being built and now targeted the mosque selectively,” Nadeem explained.

He also accused the Divisional Commissioner of Gurugram of acting under the pressure of the Hindutva forces.

According to him on Friday afternoon DC was agreed to de-sealing the mosque after meeting with delegations of Gurgaon Nagrik Ekta Manch and from the Muslim community but at evening he retracted.
