New Delhi, Dec 25: A review petition has been filed in the Supreme Court of India challenging its September 2018 judgment that upheld the Constitutional validity of Aadhaar.

In a majority 4-1 judgement, a constitution bench of the apex court headed by then Chief Justice Dipak Misra had affirmed the constitutionality of the 12-digit unique identity scheme.

The constitution bench had struck down some provisions of Aadhaar and upheld the rest.

The review petition has challenged only those aspects of the Aadhaar scheme as well as the Aadhaar Act, 2016 which were held to be constitutionally valid, says LiveLaw.in.
