NEW DELHI, FEBRUARY 11— After daylong counting of votes in the Delhi Assembly elections, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party have emerged fully intact even after facing unprecedented tsunami of hate and personal attacks on his welfare schemes from the mighty BJP.

The ruling Aam Aadmi Party has won 62 seats while BJP has won 8 seats. The elections for 70-member Assembly were held on February 8.

In the 2015 polls, AAP had won 67 seats and BJP 3 seats.

In this election campaign, BJP had unleashed brutal attack on social fabric by targeting the Shaheen Bagh protest against CAA-NRC-NPR. AAP government’s welfare schemes were also mocked by BJP. And Chief Minister Kejriwal himself faced personal attack as some BJP leaders called him “terrorist”.

Due to the provocative and inflammatory remarks, several BJP leaders including a Union Minister and an MP faced gag orders from the Election Commission. On the other hand, AAP and Kejriwal remained focused on the performance of his government.
