COIMBATORE, MAY 27—In a bid to extend their gratitude to corona warriors in their fight against the virus spread, the Coimbatore branch of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) members greeted top honchos in the district administration, municipal corporation, police, medical officers, nurses, para medical staff and cleanliness workers by offering Eid special food packs.

Noteworthy to mention that Jamat-e-Islami Hind members were on their toes right from Day 1 when the nationwide lockdown was announced by rendering their services to the frontline workers in all possible ways. Besides distributing food packets through Coimbatore Municipal Corporation’s Emergency Food Response Team at CMCH hospital and ESI Hospital, JIH members reached out to the needy in providing essential items as part of corona relief. Interestingly, the Municipal Commissioner Sravan Kumar Jatavat honoured them with certificate of appreciation for their selfless service in lockdown.

All the more, the JIH members established a good rapport with the government officials, including hospital authorities and police department through their services for a peaceful coexistence among all faiths. And they won the hearts of district administration head, police chief and the Deans of KMCH and ESI Hospital. They work under the dictum of ‘Service to Mankind is Service to God’.

“The real spirit of Eid festivity is in sharing and giving and this time, the JIH seized the opportunity to celebrate it in this way”, said JIH president (Coimbatore) P S Umar Farook. Secretary M S Shabbir Ali, Public Relations Secretary A Abdul Hakkim, Hidhayaa Islamic College for Women correspondent Moulavi Mohamed Ismail Imdhadhi, Peer Mohamed and Samir from Dawah team were among those who were behind this initiative. Truly, this turned out to be a communal harmony festivity where the JIH derived pleasure in ‘Joy of Giving’ even while honouring the corona warriors at this hour of crisis.
