FIR Against Rakesh Tikait, Yogendra Yadav & Many Others For Republic Day Violence

NEW DELHI—The names of several farm leaders including Rakesh Tikait (BKU),  Vijender Singh Virk,  VM Singh (National Organiser of Akhil Bharatiya Kisan Sangharsh Samanvay),  Jagtaar Singh Bajwaa(Udham Singh Nagar),  Rishipal Singh (Ambawat),  Harpal Singh (BKU), Vinod Kumar (Jat Mahasabha) and Swaraj Abhiyan leader Yogendra Yadav find mention in the FIR registered by the police in connection with the violence on Republic Day in the Capital.

Besides, the police have also named several other farmer leaders, including Darshan Pal, Rajinder Singh, Balbir Singh Rajewal, Buta Singh Burjgil and Joginder Singh Ugraha for breach of NOC issued with regard to farmers’ tractor rally.

The charges levelled in the FIR are under various IPC sections, including Section 307 (attempt to murder), 147 (punishment for rioting) and 353 (assault/criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty).

Meanwhile, police are reported to have detained 200 persons in connection with the violence.

When pointed out by media that his name was also there in the FIR, Swaraj Abhiyan leader Yogendra Yadav said, “I am not aware of it. I have not read the FIR. I am listening this only from you. I can comment only after reading the FIR”.

Regarding violence on Republic Day during farmers tractor rally, he said, “it is highly shameful and condemnable”.
