NEW DELHI–Coming down heavily on the BJP-led Union government for diverting public attention from burning issues, social and community leaders of the different faiths on Monday strongly demanded to withdraw the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and to delink National Population Register (NPR) from the forthcoming Census 2021 operations. They said Manuwad (caste-supremacy ideology) and moneywad (wealth accumulation) is the mother of all problems in the country.

Under the banner of Sanvidhan Suraksha Aaandolan (SSA), a joint platform of concerned Indian citizens for protection of constitutional values and rights, the leaders addressed a press conference at the Press Club of India here.

Former Bombay High Court judge, Justice B G Kolse-Patil alleged the Modi government has been implementing the agenda of Sarvarkar and Golwalkar as their ideology is of caste supremacist.

“Whatever is happening in the country because of this ideology as Manuwad (ideology of caste-supremacy) and moneywad (wealth accumulation) is the mother of all problems faced by the people of this country,” Justice Kolse-Patil said.

On the BJP’s politics of communal polarization, Justice Kolse-Patil averred that the 250 million strong Muslim population is the backbone of this country and cannot be overthrown of eliminated. He said the people should understand that their real enemy is the RSS ideology not Muslim community.

Citing the example of doles given to the few crony capitalists Ambani and Adani, he said in the last seven years the Modi government has given them money to the tune of Rs 5 million in the form of tax and custom exemption, loans and interest while it is reluctant to pay only Rs 2.5 lakh to farmers in form of MSP to their produce.

He also accused the government of exploiting and subjugating the people which spent less on the social sector in the world.

Speakers also raised the issue of EVMs’ integrity alleging that BJP is winning election because of this.

Justice Patil recalled that in 2008, the Supreme Court itself accepted that EVMs were not reliable but now it is silent on this issue despite a plethora of petition challenges EVMs pending before it.

“I am one of the petitioners in the apex court, the judge who delivered the 2008 judgment had become the Chief Justice but he remained silent on this”, he said

In line with his views, Raj Ratan Ambedkar, President, Buddhist Society of India, said it is a well-known fact that EVMs can be tampered with. Noted Islamic scholar and secretary of All India Muslim Personal Law Board, Maulana K R Sajjad Nomani said if EVMs were removed, then BJP cannot win assembly and parliament elections.

Revert the election process to ballet papers, the country will know where the BJP stands and how much support it commands in the masses, Ambedkar said. He also came down heavily on the government drive of privatization of the public sector saying its well-thought strategy to do away with reservation in the public center.

“PM Modi says it is not the business of the government to run banks, industry and other business sectors, then what is the purpose of Parliament, whether it is a place for chanting ‘Jai Sree Ram’, he asked.

Taking a dig at the PM’s claims of working 18 hours, he asked, then the country’ GDP growth ratio has gone down to -24 per cent. When the world governments were planning to provide relief to their people during last year’s lockdown, but the Modi government used this period to pass anti people laws, he said.

Raj Ratan Ambedkar also made scathing attacks on the new education policy saying it is a new avatar of the cruel Manuwadi system which debars so-called lower caste people from pursuing education.

Speaking about the formation of the Sanvidhan Suraksha Aaandolan, Maulana Nomani said India is facing a multitude of burning problems including poverty, justice, economic woes, farm and citizenship laws and others. These real issues get deflected in the Hindu-Muslim binary and divide and rule is a stated policy of the present day rulers, he said.

He said India is getting a bad name at the international levels and international organization calling it an “electoral autocracy”. They (Government) have made sedition and anti- terror laws a mockery as these are being misused for mere opposing a government policy, he added. Supporting ongoing farmers’ movement, he asked why the government is shying away from making law to guarantee MSP.

Attacking PM Modi, Bodh religious leader Bhadant Anand said it is a misfortune that a person with little caliber is ruling the country. He also attacked those Hindu supremacists who mocked Bodh dharma saying Hindu religious leaders call themselves as “Jagat Guru Shankar Achariya” but who recognize them in the world?

Muhammad Shafi, general sectary of the SSA said the joint platform was launched in February 2020 last year to protect the Constitution which has been trampled upon by the present rulers. He urged concerned social organizations, political parties and other groups in the country to wake up and unite against the Byautocratic, fascist and communal behaviour of the BJP government so that the country retains its basic character of unity in diversity.
