NEW DELHI—Senior Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) leader Mr Nusrat Ali passed away on Sunday afternoon.

He was suffering from Covid-19 infection and was undergoing treatment in  Al-Shifa Hospital for the last 15 datys.

According to hospital sources, his condition had started improving two days ago but his oxygen level went down early Sunday morning that claimed his life.

A former president of UP unit of the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, he also served as a national vice-president of the organization and for two terms as national general secretary.

He was currently chairman of the JIH’s Taleemi Board.

A large number of people expressed their condolences. All India Muslim Majlis Mushwarat (AIMMM) preisdent Navaid Hamid said that the death of Mr Nusrat Ali is a big loss to the community which will be felt for a long to come. Mr Nusrat Ali was a member of the executive committee of AIMMM.
