NEW DELHI—The Supreme Court has stayed the central government’s ban on transmission of news and current affairs imposed on MediaOne, a Malayalam language TV channel, Live Law has reported.
The court ruled today that the channel could operate its transmission.
The stay order was issued after the company owning the TV channel filed a special leave petition challenging the Kerala high court order that had upheld the ban.
The centre had imposed the ban based on a confidential report of the Home Ministry that had raised security concerns if the TV channel was allowed to continue with its transmission of news and current affairs.
