NEW DELHI—Welfare Party of India has demanded an impartial inquiry into the killing of two Muslims during the last Friday protest in Ranchi and in the demolition of house of Javed Mohammad in Prayagraj and other properties in Saharanpur and Kanpur in the last few weeks.

WPI has also demanded unconditional release of Javed Mohammad and other innocent persons arrested by the UP police.

The party also demanded suspension of the erring police officials  involved in shooting incident in Ranchi and arrest of innocents in UP. WPI also demanded reconstruction of the demolished houses.

These demands were made by WPI president Dr. SQR Ilyas while addressing a media conference at Press Club of India here on Tuesday.

Stating that the demolition was questionable, Dr. Ilyas said that the destroyed house was not in the name of Javed but in his wfe Parveen Fatima. But the notice was served in the name of Javed. There was no legal notice was served to the family earlier.

He alleged that UP government was targeting because he and his daughter Afreen Fatima, a JNU student, took active part in anti-CAA movement.

He contended that the house was illegal. Dr. Ilyas said that the family paid house tax and other taxes regularly.

Stating that demolition of houses was a dangerous trend, he said that the administration was demolishing houses even before the matter went to the courts. He called it “jungle raj”.
