Prince of Arcot Urges Centre to Promote Peace, Communal Harmony in the Country

State BJP invited the Prince of Arcot, Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali, and his Dewan, Nawabzada Mohammed Asif Ali to meet Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday. The Prince of Arcot told the Home Minister that India belongs to all of us and not just any one community or caste.

Stating that when the country is moving ahead with self-confidence and a sense of destiny, social harmony is crucial at this juncture, Prince of Arcot Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali on Saturday urged the BJP government at the Centre to promote peace, communal harmony in the country.

He said this at a meeting convened by the Tamil Nadu BJP unit in Chennai which was attended by people from various religious groups.

The State BJP invited the Prince of Arcot, Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali, and his Dewan, Nawabzada Mohammed Asif Ali, with a few select dignitaries from various walks of life, belonging to different faiths, to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in the city, on June 10, that is, Saturday.

During his address, the Prince expressed his happiness to meet the Home Minister. In his fervent appeal to the Home Minister, the Prince said, “The BJP government at the Centre ought to promote peace and communal harmony in the country, irrespective of caste, creed or religion. India belongs to all of us and not just any one community or caste.”

He also clarified that he and his family have always been non-political and non-communal, historically.

Nawabzada Mohammed Asif Ali, Dewan to the Prince, recalled the history of their ancestors, who were the then independent and sovereign rulers of this part of the country, known as the Nawabs of the Carnatic/Arcot (1698-1855). They are well known for their contributions towards non-Muslims by donating lands for the construction of worship places in South India.

The Home Minister in his address apprised the nation’s development in many aspects, promoted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi since 2014.

The Prince and his Dewan offered shawl to the Union Minister.
