Amit Shah discharged in fake encounters case; Extremely pleased, says Rajnath

Mumbai, 30 Dec. 2014: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah was discharged in the case of the alleged fake encounter killings of Sohrabuddin Sheikh, his wife Kausar Bi and Tulsiram Prajapati, a witness, here Tuesday.

A special CBI court ruled that there was insufficient evidence against Shah in the case dating to 2005 and 2006, pertaining to the incidents which occurred when he was the Gujarat home minister.

Reacting to the development, Rubabuddin Sheikh, brother of deceased Sohrabuddin, said that he would appeal against the order in the Bombay High Court.

The CBI has said it would study the court order before taking further steps in the matter.

Rajnath ‘pleased’ as Amit Shah gets clean chit

Home Minister Rajnath Singh Tuesday expressed satisfaction after BJP president Amit Shah was given a clean chit in an alleged staged shootout case.

“Extremely pleased to know that the BJP national president Shri Amit Shah has been given a clean chit by the special CBI court,” he twitted.

Shah was discharged by a special CBI court in the alleged staged shootout case related to Sohrabuddin Sheikh, his wife Kausar Bi and Tulsiram Prajapati.

The killings took place in 2005 and 2006 when Shah was the Gujarat home minister.
