Congress asked government to show proof and authenticity of the data
IndiaTomorrow.net,
New Delhi, Feb 6: The Central government on Monday claimed that the share of minorities in central government jobs has increased to 9.9% in the last two and half years from 5.3% in 2014.

Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that when his party came to power in the centre in May 2014, minorities were just 5.3% in central government jobs but now the share stands at 9.9%. The minister quoted the figure from a piece of paper.

Soon after his speech, Congress leader and former union minister Jairam Ramesh stood up and requested the minister to table the paper or at least tell the House about the source of this data.

“Kya Chamatkar hai. Sirf dhai saal mein 5% se 9% ka increase (What a miracle it is that they increased the share from 5% to 9% in just two and half years),” said Ramesh.

BJP came to power at the centre and Modi became prime minister in May 2014 after dethroning Congress which had been ruling the country since 2004.
