NEW DELHI, JANUARY 22— After the Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to stay the implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and gave four weeks to the Centre to file replies to the petitions challenging the CAA, the Jamia Coordination Committee has announced to continue its movement against the controversial citizenship law and government move for National Population Register (NPR) and National Register of Citizens (NRC).

“While keeping the utmost respect for the judiciary and its process, JCC will follow other modes of raising disagreements with the CAA, a law which the people clearly recognize as anti-constitutional, and with the NRC, a process which will create masses of stateless people,” said the committee in a statement.

JCC also announced to resist the CAA-NRC-NPR on the roads.

“JCC wants to make it very clear that while we continue to fight the legal battle, we will resist this draconian law on the roads as well and therefore, the Movement against CAA, NRC and NPR will go on,” the group said.

Hundreds of students of Jamia Millia have been protesting against CAA-NRC-NPR since December 13. The police crackdown on the Jamia students on Dec 13 and 15 had led to nationwide protests against the law.
