NEW DELHI—The Uttar Pradesh police have denied that the Hathras Dalit girl, who died due to torture and grievous injuries in cervical spine, was not raped though woman in her video statement had claimed that she was subjected to gangrape.
“The post-mortem report says the victim died due to her neck injury. FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory) report hasn’t found sperm in samples, making it clear that some people twisted the matter to stir caste-based tension. Such people will be identified and legal action will be taken,” said Prashant Kumar, a senior UP police officer.
The autopsy report issued by the Delhi hospital said that the woman died of “injury to the cervical spine by indirect blunt trauma”.
The autopsy report says that an attempt was made to strangle her it did not cause her death.
