NEW DELHI—The hashtag #नाथूराम_गोडसे_जिंदाबाद in praise of Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram Godse dominated the microblogging site-Twitter-on Friday with hashtag #MahatmaGandhi on 151th birth anniversary of the Father of Nation dragging third in the trending list in India.

Another hasthag #सुदर्शन_की_हार_हिंदुओ_की_हार pertaining to Sudarshan TV that has been asked not to telecast “UPSC Jihad” programme was trending on number Two in India. While supporters of Nathuram Godse belittled the position of Mahatma Gandhi in their tweets, the tweets on hasthag #सुदर्शन_की_हार_हिंदुओ_की_हार circulated contents   encouraging Islamophobia in India. And yet, the microblogging site allowed it.

Among those who tweeted on #नाथूराम_गोडसे_जिंदाबाद included Republic Tv editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami. He tweeted, “RT for Mahatma Gandhi, Like for Nathu Ram Godse

Al most all the tweets on #नाथूराम_गोडसे_जिंदाबाद eulogized the Gandhi’s assassin and some of them also justified the assassination of the Father of the Nation.

A tweet posted by one Pankhudi justifying the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi said that  if Gandhi had been alive for another 15 days, Pakistan would have got a corridor through Indian territories connection formerly West Pakistan (now Pakistan) with formerly East Pakistan(now Bangladesh). “That is why Gandhi was assassinated. Retweet the post if you feel that Nothuram Godse had taken the right decision for the nation…???”

She has also quoted Nathuram Godse saying, “Gandhi and Nehru gave Pakistan to Muslims. Even after this, they were indulging into Muslim appeasement on the pretext of Secularism. If they are not stopped now, India will not see another Partition but the entire India will become a Islamic nation in future”.

While one Upasana Singh (@uppusingh) raised a question as to “Who is the real #FatherOfTheNation”, one Sunita (@sunita747) replied in a question answer manner, “Teacher: Why is Gandhiji called Father of the Nation? Student: Because he had given away half of the country in “kanyadaan”(giving away the bride) like a father does”, indicating that Gandhi was responsible for the Partition of India and making of Pakistan.

There were many posts that called Nathuram Godse as role model and supported the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi. They called Nathuram as “deshbhakt”, a patriot though what Nathuram did was nothing less than terrorism.
