Seema Mustafa elected President of Editors Guild of India

NEW DELHI—Seema Mustafa, editor of news website The Citizen, has been elected President of Editors Guild of India. She succeeds Shekhar Gupta, Editor-in-Chief of news website ThePrint.

Sanjay Kapoor, editor of the Hardnews magazine was elected as general secretary while Ananth Nath, editor of Caravan magazine, was elected treasurer unopposed.

Earlier, the presidents of the Guild were appointed through consensus. It is the for the first time that the Guild got its elected president.

Seema’s opponent was M D Nalapat, editorial director of Itv Network. Seema bagged 87 votes out of 140 votes polled while Nalapat secured 51 votes.
