BHOPAL—The police have registered a criminal case against Bhopal Congress MLA Arif Masood and 2000 others for holding a rally against French President Emmanuel Macron over the latter encouraging Islamophobia and supporting publication of offensive cartoons of Prophet Muhammed (Peace Be Upon Him) in his country.
The rally was held in Iqbal Maidan yesterday.
The police told mediapersons that the FIR was lodged against the MLA and 2000 others for violating the Covid-19 restrictions under which crowd gathering was banned to check the outbreak of coronavirus. The case, the police said, was registered under Section 188 of Indian Penal Code on charges of disobedience of an order promulgated by a public servant.
