BJP Leading In UP, Uttarakhand, Manipur& Goa, AAP In Punjab

New Delhi—The Hindu nationalist BJP was leading in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa and AAP in Punjab as per the reports coming in from these states up to 4 pm. Meanwhile, Congress accepted its defeat in the assembly polls in the five states.

While BJP was leading in 264 seats in UP, the chief rival SP was ahead in 134 seats. While BJP is all set to form the government again in UP, SP and its allies improved its performance from 47 seats in 2017 assembly elections. The Congress was leading on two seats and BSP on one seat only. UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath was leading from Gorakhpur and SP chief Akihlesh Yadav from Karhal.

In Punjab, AAP stunned the political analysts as it was leading on 92 seats out of a total 117 seats. The ruling Congress was decimated completely as it was leading only on 18 seats. The Akalis were ahead on four seats and BJP on two seats only.  

Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi was trailing behind rival candidates from Chamkaur Sahib and Bhadaur seats. Former chief ministers Parkash Singh Badal, Amarinder Singh and Rajinder Kaur Bhattal were also trailing. SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal was also trailing in Jalalabad seat.

Despite facing incumbency, the BJP in Uttarakhand was leading in 48 seats against 18 by the Congress. There are a total 70 seats in Uttarakhand. BSP was leading in two seats. In 2017 assembly polls, BSP had not representation in the state assembly.

In Goa, BJP was leading in 19 seats out of a total of 40 seats in the House House. Congress was leading in 12 seats, TMC and AAP on three seats each.

Out of a total of 60 seats in Manipur assembly, BJP was leading in 28 seats, followed by NPP in nine seats, JDU in seven seats, Congress in six seats and others in 10 seats.
