Communal Violence In Udaipur After Youth’s Murder, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Condemns the Beheading

NEW DELHI—Violence has broken out in tourist town of Udaipur in Rajasthan after a youth identified as Kanhaiyalal was beheahed by two youths on Nurpur Sharma issue.

The deceased was a tailor by profession.

Internet services have been suspended in Udaipur and surrounding areas. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has appealed to the people to maintain peace and not be misled by rumours.

He said strict action would be taken against the accused.

Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, one of the biggest socio-religious organization of Indian Muslims, has strongly condemned the incident, tweeting “The Udaipur incident is barbaric, Uncivilized and there is no room for Justification of violence in Islam. We strongly condemn it. No citizen should take law in his own hands. Let the law prevail.”

In another tweet, the JIH said, ” The culprits should be dealt with according to the law of the land. In any case, Peace should not be disturbed. Nobody should try to take the advantage of this ugly crime.”

Meanwhile PUCL has vehemently condemned the crime and demanded monetary compensation for the family of the deceased.

The victim had allegedly shared a tweet supporting Nupur Sharma. This provoked the youths to attack the tailor.

Nupur, who as BJP spokesperson, had made comments considered to be derogatory to Prophet Mohammed (peace be on him). Nupur was subsequently suspended from the BJP for a period of six years, pending an inquiry.

According to media, the accused persons claimed they had murdered the man as a revenge for insulting the Prophet. They also prepared a video of the gory incident and shared it on social media.

Meanwhile AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi has condemned the incident strongly.

“I condemn the gruesome murder in Udaipur Rajasthan. There can be no justification for it,” he said in a tweet.
