NEW DELHI—Muslim socio-religious and political organizations have strongly and unconditionally condemned the beheading of a tailor by two Muslim youths in tourist town of Udaipur in Rajasthan. The tailor was identified as Kanhaiyalal.

The accused beheaded the tailor because he had allegedly circulated a post supporting former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma on the issue of passing indecent remarks against Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him).

Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), one of the biggest socio-religious organization of Indian Muslims, termed the murder as “barbaric.”

Stating that “there is no room for justification for such violence in Islam,” JIH vice-president Prof Salim Engineer demanded that those found guilty for the tailor’s murder be punished as per law.

Appealing to the government that “mischief-makers be stopped from taking advantage of this incident to create unrest in the country,” Prof. Salim advised that the govenrment must maintain the law and order at all costs.

“Statements issued by some political leaders show their immaturity and their ugly intention to play the vote bank politics,” the JIH leader pointed out.

Pointing out that the “Udaipur incident reflects the growing tendency of people to take the law into their hands,”, Prof. Salim said that “this trend is dangerous for our society” and should be discouraged. He said that people lost faith in judiciary and police if no justice was done with them and they were discriminated against.

“Unfortunately, the political environment of our country is encouraging aggression and hatred and reducing empathy and tolerance,” the JIH VP said.

He urged all peace and justice-loving citizens of the country to join hands and fight against hatred and violence.

JUH calls Udaipur incident “tragic”

Condemning the killing in the name of Prophet (PBUH), president of a faction of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind (JUH) Syed Arshad Madani said that “just as we opposed mob lynching in many places, we also consider this inhumane act to be extremely dangerous to law and order.”

Pointing out that the Jamiat was always against any one taking the law in their own hands, Maulana Madani said that “the Udaipur incident is very tragic, un-lslamic and inhumane act.”

Maulana Madani, who is currently in Malaysia to attend the World Muslim League session, said that while the derogatory comments were bad but it was necessary to show tolerance and patience to maintain peace and harmony.

He strongly opposed insulting the religious personality or religious symbols of a faith or hurting the religious feelings of those who believed in that particular religion.

“But the silence of the powerful people of the country, and not arresting persons involved in passing indecent comments against the Prophet, are the reasons that have tarnished the image of the country all over the world, and set5 fire to law and order in the country” JUH president said.

Maulana Madani demanded immediate arrest of those who insulted the Prophet and punish them severely according to the law so that no one would dare to do so again in future.
